I Know I Know I Know

Thrifted tank, vintage shredded denim shorts, F21 sandals.

Southern California has been an absolute oven these past few days. Monday, it was 113 degrees. Um, eww! I hate hot weather almost as much as I hate flip-flop wedges. Since it's been hot, I've been wearing nothing but tank tops with either short-shorts or loose, lightweight pants. I hope mother nature decides to stop this soon, though. Till then, it's barely-there clothes and Mocha Ice Storms from Nordstrom's coffee bar.

I got these shorts at Wasteland on my birthday and haven't worn them till today. They are beyond over the top. They are also beyond big. I need to find a good black belt for them. And the sandals.. haven't posted. Ever. Which is odd because I wear them almost everyday. They were on sale when I bought them but debated wether they were right to buy, as they are a little S&M. I bought them anyways (obviously).

Structure

Vintage bag. Vintage shirt and F21 jeans.

This bag reminds me of the briefcase-looking bags at Celine this season. I love the combination of brown and black, and I love the gold hardware. The strap was actually added by me from one of my older bags I used to wear in high school. (This one was sold sans strap.) I think you could either go two ways with this bag. One: doing the wannabe-Alexa Chung thing and wearing a white shirt, cargo shorts, sandals, a panama hat and a printed scarf as many girls in Orange County do or Two: doing the minimalist thing and paring it with solid color pieces (like my all blue denim) or with a neutral jacket/pant combo. I intend to shoot for the second option.

Everything I Wanted To

Thrifted Nautica cargo jacket. Tripp vynil pants (that I cut into shorts.) F21 sunglasses.

Right off the heels of a fabulous thrift spree yesterday (four amazing items, $12 total spent. This jacket is one of those amazing items.) Can't wait to show the rest!

Black Snake Moan

Vintage shirt and shorts. Deena & Ozzy boots.

I decided to be a little Sci-fi the other day and revisit this amazing shirt I found at a thrift store last year on my birthday. Such a great find! I can't decide wether it's more 90's boy band or Bill Nye the Science Guy chic. Either way, I love it. And those great D&O boots: So comfortable. I can walk for days in those babies.

New York fashion week is coming to a close, and as I won't be posting about all the shows I like, I'll give you a few designers that I thought were great for Spring... I loved Alexander Wang as evidenced by my last post. Rodarte was amazing, not their usual stitched together dresses. Loved the kiddish seventies vibe. Proenza Schouler was great, reintroducing me to long, artsy necklaces and confirming my love for transparency. And my hometown hero, Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. with her prints and her drop-crotch pants. Can't wait to see what London, Milan and Paris will bring!

And Lastly, yesterday, one of my favorite teachers from high school passed away. This post is for you, Mr. Quigley.

Alexander Wang S/S 2011

All photos via Elle.com

I think there's no question that Alexander Wang is this generation's Helmut Lang. His Spring collection is incredible! No signs of black anywhere (a fact that is bittersweet to me...) but amazing shoes and pants as always. He is easily my new favorite.

Rhapsody In Blue

Vintage coat. Steve Madden shoes. F21 glasses.

I found this insane denim overcoat a few days ago and had to have it. It's just a piece of clothing that exudes sheer lunacy. Not sure where to wear this to, but I'm thinking something art-related. Artists might get a kick out of it.

Camel Crush

Vintage blazer. F21 t-shirt, boots and ring. Tyte jeans. H&M bag. Thrifted scarf.

Thank you, Mother Nature, for finally giving me an excuse to wear a blazer/scarf/boot combination again. The ever-so-schizophrenic weather of California has once again taken a turn for the grey. I'm totally happy, as I love cold weather (however it's still not cold enough to rock a fur. Well, maybe...) I decided to take one of my favorite vintage buys out on Tuesday. I got this camel blazer at least a year ago and I realize I've never posted it on my blog before. So this is its debut. I'm deeply obsessed with camel right now, as well as any shade of nude, bone, and taupe. Such easy colors to wear with everything. Now, if I could just find a pair of camel pants...

Eat Pray Love

Vintage Pierre Cardin shirt, H&M knit vest and bag, Tyte jeans, Zara booties.

My idea of a good Friday night: Art, food, and friends. My night started with the LACMA with my friend Ali. I recommend visiting LACMA if you are as much of a fan of contemporary art as I am. That led to us walking around the La Brea tarpits next door (or falling around, in my case). We went to dinner after (Romano's Macaroni Grill: delicious!) and then to see Eat Pray Love. I loved it! It's like a self-help book in a movie. So amazing and inspiring.

Expect to see this vest much much more as the weather gets cooler. Such a good buy at H&M ($20!) and it goes with absolutely everything!
