Fur At Prada

All photos via Style.com.

Finally, a collection that knocked my socks off. And, of course, it was Prada. Miuccia Prada can do no wrong in my eyes. She is truly beyond fashion. I feel like anything that has ever been on a runway of hers could be in a museum. She is amazing. In this specific collection, she played with elements of serpents, animals, mermiads, and skiers. It was genius. The photos I've selected for this post don't even begin to give the entire collection justice. But the fur... The fur is what got me. It went from your typical fox scarf thingy to downright faux/wierd/geniusness.

Can't wait for Paris!

Patriot

Vintage Levi's jacket. F21 striped t-shirt.

I've sort of been hunting for the perfect sheepskin-lined denim jacket forever (that's the 70's midwestern American in me) and finally found one at the President's Day half off sale at my favorite thrift store. I paired it with this great t-shirt from Forever 21 I got a few months ago as well as skinny black jeans and my trusty Sperry Top-Siders.

Hunter Gatherer

Vintage jacket and sweater. Dollhouse jeans. Sperry top-siders. F21 sunglasses.

Expanding on a criteria of outfitting that I like to call "lumberjack off-duty." I try to find every excuse to wear this sweater.. The color to me is just incredible. Like, shocking red. I find that a lot of the inspiration that I have these days comes from not so much of what people are wearing but how. I love seeing odd color combinations and eccentric uses of texture. I mean, I've always been into these things but I guess I'm just really realizing it now. Or maybe just reaffirming it.

Trench

Vintage trench coat and t-shirt. H&M trousers. Converse All-Star sneakers.

My new favorite thing to wear is this great vintage trench coat. I've wanted one for quite some time now, it's just such a classic and timeless piece. Also so much fun to play with. I've sort of been living in these sneakers lately. They, too, are classics and I feel like wearing them whenever I've got something proper on, like a blazer and trousers. They always add a bit of adventure.

On to other things.. Fashion Week: I haven't had the time to thoroughly go through all the NY shows that have just poured in from Style.com yet.. Alexander Wang's giant black coats were amazing, loving Marc Jacobs's latex things and patent leather wedge boots. Can't wait to see what Paris has in store.

Givenchy A/W 2011 Details

Photos via Style.com

I must admit that I am a total and utter slave to Givenchy... Well, I'm a total and utter slave to Riccardo Tisci. Everything he touches turns to genius gothic-catholic-gender-bending-skinhead gold. There is nothing he has designed that I wouldn't consider wearing. This fall's show was, in Rachel Zoe speak, bananas. From the rotweilers to the plush-looking glasses right down to the jaw-dropping wrestler boots... I'm astounded. Also, the selection of models in every show are so inspiring and diverse. The men in his shows range from ebony to ivory and beyond. And let me take this opportunity to join Tavi in saying "relax, fashion." It's almost time for fall fashion week and I haven't even finished drooling over spring.

The Ringer

F21 faux leather jacket. Vintage sweater.

I took that sporty/collegiate/genius combo from Watanabe's show and applied it to my new favorite vintage sweater. Love the blue rings around the neck, waist and wrists.
